Firebird History
On August 20th, 2023, something unexpected and wonderful happened. Parents, athletes, and the new head coach came together to support the remaining athletes of their swim team, which had abruptly disbanded earlier that day. Although we were not recognized as an official USA Swim team, the determination of the athletes and parents kept them practicing together as an organized group.
A few months later, Champion’s Coaching Inc. was formed as a non-profit to help fund the athletes’ needs for lane space. This initiative gradually expanded to other causes, such as raising awareness in the BIPOC community about the importance of water safety, providing a safe space for people in the BIPOC community to learn how to swim, and much more!
On September 3, 2024, after much hard work from our head coach, Champion’s Coaching Inc., parents, and most importantly, the athletes, USA Swimming granted us the status of an official USA Swim team. We officially became THE FIREBIRDS. We rose from the ashes (or in our case, rough waters) into something powerful and beautiful!
We, as a group, are barely a year old, and yet we already have so much rich history. Thank you for your interest, and let’s grow our history together!
